To get rid of shallot smell squeeze lemon on your hands and rub them on a "stainless steel soap bar" like the one I have near the sink at home. That should do the trick. If you can't find a ss bar, rub your hands on a stainless steel pot when you wash it. There are also some kitchen soaps formulated to remove the smell of garlic and onion from a cook's hands. You'll be smelling sweet again...Love, Mom

Aw... Truffle misses you. Last night we shared a bottle of champagne, a roasted chicken prepared with rosemary, garlic and lemon with dill butter rice and asparagus. For dessert we had Hershey's Kisses with almonds and Dad had the last piece of my "apple thing". Barb bought me the Beekman Boys "Heirloom Cookbook" for watching her "boyz" last week. I can't wait to try the recipes! Some were featured in "Country Living" magazine. She also gave me some heirloom seeds to sow in the veggie garden. I just bought "The Vegetable Gardener's Bible" and hope to have a bumper crop this year. She gave me seeds for candy cane striped beets. Beets never grow well but this year I have "the Bible". Love, -Mom

[...] Last week I had a dinner of a lifetime at Terra. One of my friends worked in their kitchen and was excited to introduce me to this Napa gem. I was beyond impressed by Chef Hiro’s ingredient driven menu, unique cooking applications and thoughtful plating techniques. Although I have only been in California for a short time, Terra has been my favorite food and dining experience. [...]
