From the moment we left campus yesterday, I knew we were about to have an epic journey. My friend Courtney pumped her own gas for the first time ever. She’s from New Jersey, so I can’t really blame her.
First Stop: Wild Hive Farm. This place is quickly becoming our “home away from home”. The feel is cozy, friendly and familiar. They mill their own grains for their breads and baked goods, the menu is seasonal and the food is just downright delicious.
For lunch, I had the “Wild Mushroom Scramble”.
Simplicity is bliss. Essentially it was 2 eggs scrambled with black trumpet mushrooms and spring onions topped with Stella Tomme cheese.
I had a drool fest over the raisin-walnut toast coated in fresh local butter.
Lots of “perfect bites”. This is happiness.
Before leaving, we entertained the idea of dessert. Their baked goods all looked fresh and tempting. We asked our waitress, “What is the one thing we shouldn’t leave without trying today?” She pointed to the Strawberry-Current Cake that just came out of the kitchen. Sold. Three forks and 1 cake please!
My perfect bite.
The Baking and Pastry Student needed a picture.
Cin Cin! Last bites all around…obviously we hated it.
After lunch, we found ourselves at the Millbrook Vineyard and Winery.
It was a gorgeous day to learn about wine.
And have a little group therapy.
A tasting.
Followed by a tour.
We were very happy girls.
It was fun to explore the area and relax before finals next week. I can’t believe our first block at the CIA is coming to and end.
Bon Vivant,
Nora
