White Coats & Houndstooth Pants

(A pineapple all-spice concoction.)

Yesterday was glorious. 3/4 of my quizzes were finished, my group project on Chef Dan Barber is going well, I laughed through a great meal with great friends at Banquets and Catering and I GOT MY WHITES!

I felt honored and proud to finally pick up my uniform. I paused to wonder “Is this what it feels like when medical students receive their white coats?” I can only imagine that this is an even better feeling. FINALLY I am doing something I’m passionate about. It’s all happening.

I immediately ripped the plastic coverings off like a young child on Christmas morning opening presents and tried my new clothes on. 5 White Coats. 5 Houndstooth Pants. 5 Toques. 1 Long Apron. 2 Aprons. 3 Side Towels, 2 Neckerchiefs. 3 CIA Oxford Shirts. 2 Black Formal Pants. 1 Vest. 1 Tie.

(Warm Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Coulis and Whipped Cream)

The pictures you are about to see were taken in a rush between lunch and math. They aren’t the best so you are going to have to bear with me. I swear, my side pony tail is not my everyday look….maybe.

Front of the House.

“Oh hi!?”

I will get some better pictures soon. My other friends all wanted to take pictures to send to their parents too. Trying on our white coats was a very surreal moment. I’ve always idolized chefs and the students at The Culinary, and now I am one of them. I’m not sure what my future holds, however; my dreams are growing everyday. The people I talk to, the classes I take and the lessons I’ve learned here so far are giving me perspective on the industry and what my small role might be.

Cheers to the future!

Bon Vivant,

Nora
