I feel sinful. My dinner was composed of several luxurious bites. I never thought that I was the “tapas” type of girl– I prefer full meals. An artisan sourdough baguette, Spanish sheep’s milk cheese, charcuterie, half of an orange and sparkling wine quickly changed my mind. I <3 tapas.
I served my meats, bread and cheese on a cutting board because A) it looked cool and B) when you have a soft cheese sitting on a cutting board it makes for easy bread dipping! I feed myself extremely well. This looks like a lot of food for one person…maybe it was, but it felt SO right. I went back for another bite of baguette to finish my cheese. This is my preferred style of eating. Good and simple.
Recently I have been learning about and appreciating charcuterie. Several conversations and a delicious sandwich later, I found myself planning this meal!
Fermin Lomo Iberico De Bellota (I think this was my favorite! The cut was so thin you can see through it!)
Campofrio Boneless Serrano Ham
Fermin Jamon Iberico Bellota (SO Rich & Earthy–a single slice was all I needed!)
Campofrio Chorizo
A couple of wedges of this Miticana De Oveja sheep’s milk cheese.
Artisan Sourdough Baguette. I was lying to myself saying I would “only eat a hunk”. I felt selfish keeping it all for me. It has the most unbelievable flavor and texture.
Here is a glance.
I can’t even tell you how well it pairs with cheese. If given the opportunity, I would consider marrying this bread. Of the entire bakery (where I used to work!) it is my favorite!
My meal was served with a side salad of Arugula and Vine-Ripe Tomatoes dressed in Spanish Olive Oil, Balsamic, Kosher Salt and Pepper. And 2008 Saint-Hilaine Brut Sparkling Wine. I loved that the sparkling wine cleansed my palate with each bite. It helped me distinguish the flavor profiles of the meat and cut the cheese perfectly.
I was extremely full after this meal, however; you know I saved room for dessert
. A bite of chocolate plus a treat that I have saved for another post
.
I call this: Hazelnut Affogato. mmmm Vanilla Ice Cream, Hazelnut Liqueur and Espresso.
Life is good.
Simple Pleasures,
Nora

This is making me so nostalgic! Honestly, it is my ideal meal. I traveled throughout Italy two summers ago and made meals like this a regular occurrence. Ooh how I miss it… wine, cheese, meats, and baguette enjoyed in the sunshine in the middle of the day!
This looks so legit! I’ve never eaten most of these things (vegan) but it looks just like all the authentic meats I saw in all the delis while I lived in Spain. You’ve got tapas down.
It is AWESOME that you used to work in a bakery! I have always dreamed of doing that!
And that bread does look soooo good!
