Wine With Me: Sancerre

I’m still tasting my way through France.

Sancerre Domaine de la Perriere 2008

I really enjoyed this wine. It is one of those wines that you could drink alone. This would be great as an aperitif or with a light  fish dish. I think it would be especially delicious with oysters. (Which I have been randomly craving)  YUM.

What is Sancerre: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley, the climate tends to be cooler. This region neighbors Poulliy Fume, and is known for producing outstanding sauvignon blanc and pinot noir.

This Wine: Wine Spectator gave this 90 points. Again, I am not a wine expert but I would say I LOVED this. It has a nice straw color, and has the aroma of citrus fruits, herbs and grass with a note of minerality. This is a very bright wine, crisp an lingers. The initial taste I could pick up on the acidity and minerality with a finish of crisp apple and a not-quite-ripe pear.

I paired this wine with several flavors, and found that it worked extremely well with goat cheese.

Roasted Vegetable, Goat Cheese and Gouda Panini on Miche

I’m thinking about making “Wine With Me” a weekly feature on my blog. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear :) .

Wineing,

Nora
