Earth-Shattering

I did not sleep last night. This is a picture of my innocent sleepy eyed Truffle. She played all evening and was finally drawing tired. I was sitting on the couch below this ledge watching television and catching up on blogs. My sweet, little, trusty companion wanted to be near me. She likes to sleep perched on high surfaces–a Nepoleon complex I suppose. Her little paws squirmed around trying to find an adequate position to rest her tired body. Shortly after this picture was taken, I heard a noise. Truffle fell almost 10 feet.

She ran up the stairs startled. I picked her up and cradled her as her heart raced. Then she began to sneeze. I looked down and saw red. Something was wrong. I called my dad crying and hysterical. I drove her to the nearest veterinary hospital in 15-minutes flat, screaming at each red light, telling it to change.

Everything was okay and the vet was charmed by her friendly disposition and affection. I was able to bring her home, but worried about her all night long. I placed tin foil over the perch to detract her from jumping up, advice I was given from the vet. When I woke up from my sleepy daze (if you can call it that) my stomach was unsettled and my world was a fog. I needed a comfort breakfast.Whipped Banana Oatmeal with Chia Seeds and Soy Milk. Crunchy Natural Peanut Butter, Blackberries and Honey.

I was so shaken that I did not have time to prepare lunch. I threw together a fast meal with components from my dinner last night.Mixed Lettuce, Black Beans, Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, English Cucumber, Olive Oil/Balsamic. 1/2 of an Orange.

I had a Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Luna Bar around 4:30pm so dinner is a little later than usual. I still feel a bit nervous about Truffle and am doing my best to keep her out of trouble, and shower her with love. I have been playing with herĀ  ever since I got home from work. She seems fine and continues to climb on things she shouldn’t. I have been given lots of advice, and only hope that she will be able to adjust and learn. I love her so much.

Worried,

Nora

  2. Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry about Truffle’s fall! I would have been so scared too. I’m really glad she’s okay though. :)

I am so sorry about sweet Truffle! What a traumatic night. I always have such a hard time recovering from emotional events like that…I wake up the next day feeling very unsettled too. I hope you can get some good rest tonight!

She is sooo adorable. Don’t worry, cat’s have nine lives. (Literally) My cat growing up lived to be 19. He had been put in the clothes dryer by my brother, fell from a railing to the downstairs …about 15 feet, got hit by a car when he was 16, the list goes on. They are so resilient. Also, I think having pets is a great way to get prepared for having kids. ;-)

  5. Oh no!! Sorry to hear about Truffle’s whoopsie :( You did the right thing bringing her in, but don’t beat yourself up over it – kittens will be kittens – and always find trouble no matter how much we try to keep them away from it!! Just like children, I swear :P Luckily, I think they really do have ten lives – though probably more :P
Try and get some rest tonight, don’t worry too much – everything will be just fine :)
