All day long it rained…and rained…and rained some more. My parents and I decided to call it an early night and have 5pm cocktail hour.
Russian Jack 2008 Sauvignon Blanc (brought to me while I finished blogging! THANKS DAD!)
A couple of pieces of Farmer’s Market Bread and Olive Oil/Herb Dip.
Pan-seared Chicken Breast, Corn on the Cob and Salad with Honey Dijon Dressing.
With dinner we had Kendall Jackson 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. This was okay, however; was drastically lighter than the Russian Jack.

For the grand finale, I made individual peach cobblers (with a handful of blueberries in the base) with a healified crunch topping. We served them with vanilla ice cream and homemade blackberry sauce.
Healthified “Crunch” Topping (for 3):
1/4 Cup Coach Oats 1 T Whole Wheat Flour 2 T Dark Brown Sugar ~3 T Chopped Walnuts ~1 T Sliced Almonds 2 T honey 2 T Canola Oil Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Vanilla ExtractAfter all of this, it was STILL raining so I turned on Cupcake Wars, caught up with a few old friends on Facebook and called it a night. I may have also found a kitten in the midst of things
. I think I made the decision that I NEED one and am willing to commit to one.
Lazy Sunday,
Nora
Holy yum those cobblers look incredible! That is probably one of my favorite deserts. Fresh fruit baked with a crunchy oat topping… heaven.
can’t go wrong with a Kendall Jackson and perfect for happy hour.
Send me some of your rain…please! I would love a cocktail right about now…I wish we could meet after work for a drink. And your little cobblers look delicious and precious (but is that a big surprise since they come from you?)
That’s so exciting about the kitty! I think you should go for it!
Sometimes rainy Sundays are the best.
That dessert looks off the hook! Since my love affair with red wine began, it is hard to drink sauvignon blanc. I think I do more chardonnays now, but every once in a blue moon, I crave the light, zippy flavor of a s.b.
I can’t get back into the white wine thing these days…. It has been awhile since I fell in love with red now white tastes SO SWEET.
I was eating the freshest most juicy peach when I saw your tweet about peach cobbler and thought “I should make some” Now that I saw the photo I am thinking “I HAVE to make some!!”
And yay to getting a kitty!
awww, kitten?!?! yes, yes – you do definitely need one
can’t wait to see if you decide to get one.
the crunch topping sounds SO good. and definitely a perfect dessert for a rainy day. sometimes they’re so relaxing, aren’t they?
Have a good Monday, Nora!
