KitchenAid Fail

I am not in love with my KitchenAid Mixer right now. My dreams of making a Genoise with Blackberry Sauce died when the batter turned gray due to metal filaments. NOT OKAY!When the mixture of eggs, sugar, light olive oil and flour looked like sludge my mom and I began to investigate the cause. She thought it might have been the olive oil having a weird chemical reaction. WRONG. It was the mixer attachment rubbing against the bowl. My dessert was supposed to look like this:Fluffy yellow cake. Moist and perfect. And wound up like this. A light gray (bad lighting) almost blue cake. Unfortunately we could not eat this :( .

To compensate and console myself, I had a bowl of deliciousness. The base is a handful of fresh blueberries, topped with an extra large scoop of vanilla ice cream and the blackberry sauce. This sauce would have been delicious on the Genoise I could not eat :( . I’m crying.

At least all of the other parts of dinner were okay. We began with Middle Ages beer and Farmer’s Market bread with olive oil dip.For our main course, my dad prepared filet mignon on our charcoal grill. It was tender and perfectly cooked! GO DAD!On the side we had Russian Jack Pinot Noir, green beans from my moms garden, and a salad I made with mixed sweet cherry tomato salad with olive oil, balsamic, cracked black pepper, cracked sea salt, arugula, oregano and feta cheese.

I’m still fuming about the KitchenAid. I had big dreams. The enormous bowl of ice cream I had for dessert healed my wounded culinary spirit a little bit, however; it is going to take a while for me to get over this.

Wallowing,

Nora

Kitchen Aid mixers are expensive and there was no one at the service center today to answer my call. I recently called the center and was given instruction on adjusting the machine. It didn’t work. I don’t use the mixer often so the problems are not due to “wear and tear”. The mixer has never been abused. My mixer is a “lemon”.
