Love what you eat. Live a full life.

Second Time Around

I don’t like leftovers. I know this might seem strange. Leftovers are considered a ‘Godsend’ to most because they save people  time, effort and money. I don’t disagree with this mentality, however; my strange self feels deprived of the chance to be creative in the kitchen when I have leftovers on hand. I’m not one to waste so typically I take leftovers and “enhance” them. For dinner tonight, I did no such thing. This is an exact replica of what I had for dinner on Monday. Chana Masala has me contemplating life. This was even MORE delicious the second time around.

Dinner: Chana Masala. Greek Yogurt. Cilantro. Whole Wheat Pizza Dough. Hermann J. Wiemer 2008 Dry Gewurztraminer.

I almost considered writing this entire post about wine. I had a glass and a half of Gewurztraminer with dinner and it made me believe that everything was right in the world. I love this wine by itself but the flavors in the Chana Masala provided me with a whole new experience.  I kept taking a bite and holding it in my mouth with the wine. Then taking a bite of food and cleansing my palate with the wine. Gewurztraminer typically pairs well with spicy food, however; I believe that the complexity of the spices I used (Coriander, Cumin, Masala, Turmeric and Cayenne) made the pairing incredible. It was a perfect balance and the most enjoyable meal I have made in a long time.

Dessert:Frozen York Peppermint Patty (and a few swipes of Sunflower Seed Butter while packing lunch.) Mint chocolate much? Love these.

Contemplating Life,

Nora

How often do you have dessert after dinner?

**I have dessert every night. Sometimes big sometimes small but ALWAYS end on a sweet note ;) .**

I hate leftovers too! I almost always just make one meal at a time.

I have dessert a few times a week. But I just picked up a bar of dark chocolate so that even if I don’t have a big dessert after dinner, I can at least have a little bit of sweetness. :D

My husband and I have dessert every.single. night! We both have such a sweet tooth. It’s all part of the moderation and balance since the rest of the day we generally eat very healthy.

I always create another dish out of our leftovers. I just don’t like have the same thing two days in the row and not cooking or at least prepping food. We must think alike!
ANd dessert, everynight! Something like banana soft serve or protein ice cream is definitely a staple dessert in our house right now.

I have dessert EVERY NIGHT. It might not be ice cream, but there is always a sweet snack in there.

i’m the same way when it comes to leftovers! lately i’ve been a lot more reliant, though – but i rarely make a complete dish with intention to have some leftover. usually i’ll just make salads or veggies burgers or a bunch of roast veggies to eat however i want. then, at least the time consuming part is done when i get home from work – but i can still be creative as to how i want to use it :)
and…you know something’s really good when you see me having it twice – looks like you’re the same! :P
i’d almost forgotten about york patties, too – shame on me! i have at least a little something sweet after just about every dinner. even if it’s just a couple dried apricots if i’m too full – just need a bite of sweetness!
