Well sort of…
Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning! I am a ball of energy today (clearly) and it’s all because I started off on the right foot. I was wide awake at 5:45am and it was a lovely 64 degrees out. I decided to take advantage of the peaceful morning and go for a run. Before heading out I had a super-charge me cookie. A cookie first thing in the morning? YES PLEASE! No wonder I’m in such a good mood
.
I ran a slow and steady 40 minutes. It was peaceful as always and I even had some warming “hellos” and “good mornings” from other early birds out running, walking and biking. Maybe it’s just me but people seem more friendly at 6am than 6pm.
After my run I had to multitask and have breakfast while getting ready for work. I decided on a big ‘ol Green Monster to refresh and replenish. I went a bit heavier on the peanut butter today, and it tasted even more AMAZING!
In my blender: 5 ice cubes, 1 large frozen banana, ~1.5 (?) TBS crunchy natural peanut butter, cinnamon, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (ran out of chocolate and randomly found this in my pantry), 1 cup vanilla soy milk and 2 cups baby spinach.
I’m titling my lunch box today, “I Love You Produce, Please Don’t Die.” I had some lettuce in the fridge walking a fine line between life and death and avocados tend to go bad in the blink of an eye. Since I am not one to waste, I used my soon-to-expire produce and packed a salad, sandwich and standard apple for lunch today.
Salad: almost bad lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, feta cheese, 1 large carrot, broccoli, chopped almonds, balsamic.
Sandwich: whole wheat bread, Farmer’s Market hummus, clover sprouts, vine ripe tomato and avocado.
After yesterday’s snack attack, I packed an emergency kit for work:
A variety of crunchy and nutty to satisfy whatever my craving may be. I’m already eying that Cashew Cookie Larabar for later:). I forgot still had a few of those in my collection.
Bring it on Tuesday,
Nora
What do you do for “snack emergencies”?

In a snack emergency I have a spoonful of natural peanut butter or cashew butter. It is the best. It gives me energy and satiates me enough so I can get a real meal together. Hungry strikes me quick so grabbing some nut butter is really important for me in not making bad decisions when nothing fresh is available!
I like how you added the peanut butter right into the smoothie. For some reason I put a blob of it on the smoothie after it’s made, but it means that some scoopfuls include a lot of nut butter, while others have none.
For snack emergencies I’ll run to a grocery store and pick up a bar or a yogurt and a banana. Usually I bring a piece of fruit and a bar with me if I’ll think I’ll be out for a while.
Those super charge me cookies rock my world! And your green monster is actually green!? I really need to work on mine, they normally end up the color of mud lol (:
Hey Alycia! hahaha trust me this is the RARE green one…I wish you saw the sludge of a strawberry and blueberry “green” smoothie I made once…WHOOPS!
I find that runners I encounter outdoors in general are more friendly than, say, someone I encounter in a store. I guess it’s all the endorphins!
oh i love your positive energy today! i should have had a super charge me cookie today before my tempo run-would have been great
Great job packing snacks! I always have a few bars in my backpack for emergencies. I don’t like to rely on them (I’d rather eat real food) but sometimes things just come up!
I love Cashew Cookie (one of my top two favorites!) and isn’t it lovely when people are friendly when you are out running? I love it when people wave or say hi!
my emergency snacks are luna bars or bananas.
Emergency snacks are so crucial! I get irritable when I’m hungry.
I usually have a Larabar or Fruition bar…sometimes a little Tupperware with dry cereal, nuts or dried fruit.
Delish! Love cookies and milk. And I really need to try the supercharge me cookies- I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews! Looks awesome with a delicious smoothie!
Snack emergencies are serious. I’m trying to keep a Larabar on me at all times! Love the peanut butter cookie and cherry pie flavors!
I just “revisited” the cherry pie larabar last week…unreal. Tart cherries and roasted almonds….simple bliss
