New Snacks, More Superfruit and a Chobani Review

On Sunday I went to Target to treat myself to a few new items in honor of my birthday. Along with a new dress (they seriously always have the cutest clothes!), and 2 types of granola bars, I wound up with this:A beautiful new scarf, Bon Appetit and Mini Clif Bars. I am a huge fan of Clif Bars (I like Luna Bars, but not as much as these!), and was excited to finally make this purchase. These are the perfect snack on the go or workout fuel. They are each 100 calories and have between 4-5 grams of protein!

On Tuesdays I have a dance class from 9:40-10:55 and a Philosophy class from 11-12:20, so I thought this would be the perfect pick me up for in between. I have never tried the Blueberry Crisp variety, so it was my first pick. This dense little bar with filled with pieces of dried blueberry and had a nice crunch. It was so satisfying and held me over until lunch time. I will certainly toss a few of these in my bag from now on for some fast fuel!

As promised, I incorporated Crofter’s North America Superfruit Spread into my lunch!!The composition: Two Pieces of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Bread (Cinnamon sprinkled on each half after removed from the toaster), Crofter’s North America Superfruit spread on each half (~2TBS), slices of White Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, a mound of Clover Sprouts, sliced English Cucumber, and Turkey Breast.

Winning combination!! Cinnamon is probably my go to flavor for everything, I just can’t get enough of it! The sharp cheese with the bitter cranberry was phenomenal! This spread was made for cheese. I liked the North America spread in my oats, but I LOVED it in this sandwich (mainly because of the cheese contrast). I had this and a big crunchy Jonagold; a meal made for the fall.

I lifted some weights this afternoon, so shortly after lunch I was still a bit hungry. To be full and focused, I went for the Chobani that I have been patiently waiting for the right moment to try: Non-fat Honey Greek Yogurt. I have ordered Greek yogurt for dessert at Greek restaurants and am always floored by how something as simple as thick yogurt, real honey and nuts can be so indulgent. I topped mine with Bear Naked Fruit and Nut Granola (~3 TBS-1/4cup), which is packed with almonds, walnuts, pecans, raisins and dried cranberries. I still have to try 3 more flavors to make a complete assessment of their products, however; this might be my favorite. It was thicker than the “fruit on the bottom” varieties, and had a stunning honey flavor. This is the way Greek yogurt should taste!

Happy Eating,

Nora

wow, that is one heck of a sandwich…what a combo!! I love that play of sweet + savory…my fave!
I find myself sprinkling cheese, or topping everything with a runny egg…I even top scrambled eggs with runny egg! lol!

    1. I never wanted it to end!! I love mixing flavors and textures of food! I am such a cheese girl, I have a drawer in my fridge dedicated to my sliced cheese, shredded cheese, cheese for topping veggies and pasta, cheese for sandwiches, cheese for omelets, cheese for salads, crackers, OH MY…the list goes on…hey girl’s gotta have her cheese right? And runny egg? I’ve never tried it but I imagine that it makes everything rich and creamy! You have to give me your favorite example to try out for myself!!

i put HOT SAUCE ON EVERYTHING! and salt :)

    1. I know, and they are itty bitty! I love that I can easily throw a bunch in my bag just in case. I am a hot sauce girl too. I have a few different kinds depending on what I am eating. I like red hot on all things egg and hummus, and srirachia for a quick heat spread and to spice up soups! Oy, gotta love being a foodie!!

Your yogurt looks delish! Does Chobani have a lot of sugar in it? I would love to try it. I am in a phase with Fage yogurt, kashi honey granola, and cinnamon raisin pb! So good… I hope you had a wonderful bday :)

    1. Hey thanks!! It was pretty relaxing and low key—but I like that! I am a freak for yogurt and granola, and this combo was fantastic. The flavored yogurts contain about 20g of Sugar, where as the plain only has 7grams. Your combo sounds fantastic. I like the flavored varities but I am OBSESSED with the cool, creamy and tangy plain. I love mixing in a bajillion things, and it is the perfect canvas for them. Your combo sounds so GOOD! I’m going to have to try cinnamon raisin pb soon! I always end up adding cinnamon to everything anyways haha!! THanks for the comment!

  5. I’ve been thinking about trying those mini clif bars but have been afraid they’re too mini and won’t do anything for slight hunger – what did you think? The normal ones are too big, generally speaking. (uhhh….haha) The Clif Z Bars are perfectly sized!
I still need to try honey chobani! I always just get plain yogurts because I always flavor them myself. Spekaing of which – I add JAM to just about everything! That or a bit of maple syrup, haha. I am a combiner though – I like making mix bowls of everything.

    1. I know, they look so itty bitty! They are really dense just like Cliff bars though, so a little goes a long way. I thought I would down it in one bite, but because it is so thick, I found myself crunching on it for quite a while. It heald me over a few hours until lunch but if I was STARVING this would not cut it as a substantial snack.

I am such a mixer too. I like things the way I like them, and I happen to like a lot of things together. I am a huge flavor/texture person. If I have spicy I need sweet, if I have smooth I need crunch…etc etc. The honey was good for a snack because I only added granola to it (and the granola I added had SO many elements to it), but good old plain will always be number one in my heart.
